Christmas is such a lovely time of the year. Watching all of the christmas decorations, beautiful lights, the smiles on peoples faces makes me so happy. Not to mention the nice smells from yummy christmas treats. When the temperatures starts to drop and I can jump in a warm snuggly sweater, then I know that it is christmas. This is such a lovely time of the year. For me christmas is all about having a great time with your loved ones. But what else is christmas characterized by? Oh yeah, the food. The long awaited christmas treats that we only get to eat ones a year. Therefore I am bringing you a recipe for a delicious christmas treat. Where I am from, we eat aebleskiver for christmas. It’s such a delightful treat that I would love for you to try!
Original recipe for danish aebleskiver
Preptime: 30 minutes
Cookingtime: 30 minutes
Makes 30 aebleskiver
4 dl buttermilk
250g all-purpose flour (4 1/4 dl)
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tbsp sugar
1/4 tsp salt
3 tbsp butter

Here is how to do it:
Put the buttermilk, flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in a big bowl. Separate the egg yolk and save the egg whites. Now add the egg yolk into the bowl and blend it all together. Now let the dough sit for about a half an hour. Whip the egg whites stiff and turn them gently into the dough.
Let the aebleskive pan heat up and put some oil or butter in the holes. Fill out the holes with the dough. Turn the aebleskiver for the first time when the dough has formed a crust. Use a meat needle to turn with. When they are slightly brown on both sides, put them on a baking sheet and let them sit.
For serving have them with berry jam of choice and powdered sugar.
