I am going to tell you how valuable nature is, and why you shouldn’t neglect it. The time we spend in nature has reduced tremendously since we were cavemen. It is time to change this now.
How many different kinds of electronics do you own? A phone, an iPad, a TV, a computer..? This list could go on. In our moderne world, we spend so much time staring at a screen, scrolling unconsciously. Electronics have changed massively throughout the years, and it has sadly become an addiction to many of us. Did you know that electronics are actually bad for human health? Therefore I am going to encourage you to put down your phone, and go outside. Especially in this season, when the nature is beyond beautiful.
Planet earth is such a given planet. Everything we need to survive, has been provided by nature. Such as food, water, medicine, etc. Yet we have disconnected ourselves from nature, which is such a shame. Therefore it is no surprise to me that nature is a sure way to beat stress. Spending more time outside and less time on your computer, is going to help you calm down and find some peace. Even 5 minutes can make a huge difference.
For that reason, go outside, take 10 deep breaths, smell the fresh air, and feel it towards your skin. Truly connecting to your senses can calm you down like nothing else. In nature, the only distraction you will find is a bird chirping. Therefore, you can really tune in and be present with yourself. This is really what I believe a lot of people needs. Now, I want you to take a minute and ask yourself how often you pay attention to what is going on in your mind. Mental health is so underrated, but I believe that great mental health is the birthplace of any success. You should therefore keep this in mind through out the week, so you can incorporate it into your everyday life. Believe me, it will make a huge difference.
“Dance with the waves, move with the sea. Let the rhythm of the water, set your soul free”
There are some interesting studies that have proved natures healing affect on us. A research from Sweden found out that the people who chose to run outside felt more restored and less anxious, depressed or angry, than the people running on a treadmill on a gym. Another study showed that people that were hospitalized, who has acces to nature by looking out the window, actually spend less time in the hospital.
“And into the forest i go to lose my mind and find my soul”
Every fall, I go out in the garden and pick all the apples and plums from our trees. Afterwards I bring all of the delicious fruit into my kitchen and I make apple juice and plum jam. Being able to cook foods that comes from your garden is wonderful. The accomplishment of growing something in your garden can’t compare to anything that is going on, on your phone.
I would love to know how you spend your time outside. What do you really enjoy and what makes your heart happy?
